Wines for your holiday gatherings

Choosing wines for a holiday gathering can be challenging, so we asked our wine director, Bill Netherland, to lend his expertise (and humor) for options this holiday season.

Raventós Brut Rosé “de Nit” Penedes

Sparkling wine from an estate in the Penedes region that has been farmed by the same family for centuries. They eschewed the famous Cava D.O. to create a wine of higher standards. This sparkler is estate grown and organically farmed, as close to Grower Champagne on the Iberian Peninsula you can find at a fraction of the price. Enjoy wild strawberry, plum, citrus, rose petal and more.

A rosé so light in color that 33% of men can’t even see it.

Paul Blanck Pinot Gris Alsace

Pinot Gris from Alsace is made from basically the same grape responsible for the oceans of Pinot Grigio that makes it to these shores from Italy. Here it becomes a different breed of cat... this Gris is loaded with ripe stone fruit, citrus peel and vibrant minerality.

Like a Pinot Grigio that studied abroad...

Famille Perrin “La Gille” Gigondas

You know when people say "no, really, this is a good fruitcake..." and you’ve already decided who to regift it to? This Gigondas is the fruitcake no one regifts. This Grenache blend is full of spice-laced red and black raspberries, cherry and dried herbs.

I’ll take a slice...
